5 of the most inspiring start up videos

Starting a business comes with challenges but there are fun bits too.  One of these must be making your first video. It could be a video to seek investment funding. Or an animated explainer to show how your product works. Perhaps a series of homemade gifs to test the waters? This blog contains 5 of the most inspiring start up videos we picked for you.

But before you get out your camera you need to know what sort of video you’re making and how it relates to your marketing strategy.

Here’s some companies that, in our opinion, got it spot-on:

Spotify’s animated explainer

It’s hard to remember a time when we weren’t listening to streamed music. But when Spotify launched in Sweden in 2008 they needed to let the world know what they were offering. That gave the company a vibrant identity using an animated explainer video.

85% of people more likely to purchase a product after watching an explainer video and it certainly worked for Spotify.

Swytch Bike’s investor video

Swytch smashed its crowdfunding goal in just 24 hours with the help of this excellent video, featuring inventor, Oliver Montague, riding one of his Swytch bikes around London.  Having been working on the prototype for over 4 years, Oliver seized the opportunity to launch this ground-breaking product on crowdfunding platform, Indiegogo

Goldieblox promo video

If you’re a scale up business wanting to take it to the next level then this video from GoldieBlox may give you some inspiration.  They rewrote the Beastie Boys song “Girls” with some way more empowering lyrics to encourage girls to become engineers.

Along the lines of: “All our toys were just the same, We would like to use our brains.”

LA Scaffolding social media video

We love this example of a social media video that introduces you to the passion behind the brand.  Easy to make, authentic and funny, meet Gary and Bret. What’s not to love?

Briiv sustainable air filter

Powered by moss, coconuts and nano technology, Briiv uses 100% renewable and natural materials to filter air the way nature intended. This video uses stock footage, product demos and graphics to highlight the benefits to consumer and to the earth.

I hope these examples have inspired you to make a video for your business whether it’s an infographic for your website, a meet-the-team for social media or a shiny promo for crowd funding.
