CONRAD ENERGY
Showing the scale behind UK's flexible energy
Conrad Energy is one of the UK’s leading flexible energy providers. As an Independent Power Producer, it supplies power to the grid when renewables can’t meet demand. Its portfolio spans gas, batteries, solar, wind and hydrogen across dozens of sites nationwide. But much of what makes it impressive is hard to see. The sites are dispersed, and the cleverest part – the optimisation software – is largely invisible.
The Problem
Conrad Energy needed to show scale that’s spread right across the country. They also needed to explain operations that are largely automated. That’s a tough thing to put on screen. On top of this, the business speaks to two very different audiences at once. Investors want evidence of scale, resilience and a credible pipeline. Prospective recruits want something else entirely – purpose, people and a sense of what it’s like to work there. So the challenge was to make one film work hard for both, without watering down either.
The Approach
We treated this as a brand film with two jobs, not one. First, it had to make Conrad’s scale tangible. So we focused on the physical reality of the sites and the people who run them. That grounds an abstract business in something you can actually see.
We also kept investors and recruits in mind throughout. For investors, the film signals robustness, ambition and momentum. For prospective hires, it shows the culture and the mission behind the infrastructure. As a result, one asset flexes across pitch meetings, the careers page and wider brand channels.
Throughout, we kept the tone confident but human. Conrad Energy is serious infrastructure, and the film needed to feel like it — without losing the people at its centre.
The Result
A confident film that reveals the investment potential of Conrad Energy through its infrastructure and the vibrancy of the people at its centre.
