Mission Zero x Skylark Media

Mission Zero is a UK climate tech company developing Direct Air Capture technology – machines that pull CO2 directly from the atmosphere. This technology can make climate positive solutions possible like sustainable aviation fuel made from carbon. Their goal is to roll this technology out around the world.

The Problem

Direct Air Capture is a breakthrough technology that isn’t widely known or understood. Mission Zero needed a film that could explain their end-to-end process clearly and compellingly. It needed to speak simultaneously to investors, policymakers, engineering partners and innovators.

Approach & Delivery

Mission Zero’s new DAC system was being installed and operational for the first time in physical form – a genuine milestone that Skylark could capture as it happened rather than reconstruct after the fact.

But the creative challenge wasn’t just documenting the technology – it was making its significance land. Skylark’s approach shifted the focus from the process of just capturing carbon to also what that carbon makes possible: sustainable aviation fuel enabling carbon-neutral travel, building aggregate that makes infrastructure carbon-negative. By anchoring the film in the seismic industrial change DAC technology unlocks, the story became about transformation rather than machinery.

On the ground, a gimbal-mounted camera provided fluid shots across the scale of the container, with drone footage capturing the system and its environment from above. Deliverables included a hero film for outreach and for display on the new website and social edits for LinkedIn.

The results

Direct Air Capture will only scale if investors, policymakers and partners can grasp what captured carbon makes possible. The film is now how Mission Zero opens that conversation; such as the moment a breakthrough technology stopped being a diagram and became physically real.
